  • Can you Authenticate my memorabilia?
It is important to know that Memorabilia Valuation Professionals and its employees are not authenticators and cannot authenticate signatures on any edition. We are Sports Memorabilia Valuers, supplying valuations for resale, insurance claims, legal settlements and the likes. If the editions you request for valuation do not come with a reputable Certificate of Authenticity, we will not be able to value them. However, if your edition is officially licensed and endorsed by a governing sporting body, and the Certificate of Authenticity has been misplaced, we can still value these editions for you. This is possible due to the authenticity guarantees provided by the official governing sporting bodies, which include features such as logos, edition numbers, licensee details, and holograms. As long as these details are present, we can proceed with the valuation. Any edition that does not meet the above criteria will be refunded in full. "Official Governing Sporting Bodies" refers to items produced under license and with the approval of organizations such as the AFL, NRL, Cricket Australia, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and others.
  • Do I supply valuations or "rough estimates"over the phone?
The simple answer is no. We do not discuss valuations or provide rough estimates over the phone. We only issue formal valuation reports for purposes such as insurance, resale, replacement, superannuation investments, deceased estates, and other legal proceedings. To provide an accurate valuation, we require a visual of the edition(s) along with the certificate of authenticity.
  • My Memorabilia does not have a Certificate of Authenticity, can you still value them?
If the editions you request for valuation do not come with a reputable Certificate of Authenticity or exact photo proof of the item being signed, we will not be able to value them. However, if your edition is officially licensed and endorsed by a governing sporting body and the Certificate of Authenticity has been misplaced, we can still value it for you. This is possible due to the guarantees of authenticity provided by the governing sporting bodies, which include features such as logos, edition numbers, licensee details, and holograms. As long as these details are present, we can proceed with the valuation. Any edition that does not meet the above criteria will be refunded in full.
  • My memorabilia edition is damaged, can this still be valued?
Yes, it can. The impact on value depends on the extent of the damage. In some cases, the damage is purely cosmetic, such as a damaged frame or scratched glass/Perspex, while the actual memorabilia (e.g., jersey, bat, lithograph) remains in perfect condition. Cosmetic damage can be easily repaired or reframed and will not affect the value of your edition once restored. If you are filing an insurance claim and the edition was damaged by water, fire, or other causes, it will be valued as a new edition prior to any damage occurring.
  • Can we supply an urgent valuation for an Insurance claim?
In most cases, we can provide a valuation within the same business day you place your order. If your request is urgent, please mention it in the comments box or email us, and we will fast-track it for you.
  • What does "Value for Replacement Purposes" Mean?
If your edition lacks proof of authenticity or if the authenticator is unknown or provides insufficient information, We will value it for replacement purposes only. This means we will only consider the cost of the contents and framing. For example, a framed jersey would be valued at approximately $150 for the jersey and an average of $350 for the framing, totaling $500 for replacement.
  • The signatures on my items have faded, can these be restored?
It is crucial to store and display your memorabilia correctly, keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from high-powered spotlights or downlights. If the signatures on your edition have faded or disappeared, this will affect its value based on its condition. Unfortunately, there is no way to restore the signatures on your edition.
  • I purchased my Memorabilia from a charity or fundraising event, Can you value it the same price I paid?
The value of your edition(s) depends on what they are and the amount you paid for them. However, items purchased at charity or fundraising events are often bought for more than their actual value. This can happen due to the excitement of the moment and bidding wars. Please understand that we will never over inflate the valuation of any edition. All editions will be valued according to our strict valuation criteria and current market values. Remember, your primary reason for attending the event was to support a good cause and raise money.
  • Why a valuation is important for your insurance policy?
Every insurance provider and broker mandates a formal assessment of your collection when it comes time for you to make a claim. Similar to any valuable possession, it is imperative to ensure comprehensive coverage for your collection to safeguard against theft, fire, or other unforeseen calamities. While no sum of money can truly replace your cherished collection, it can facilitate its reconstruction. Your first step in securing your collection is to engage in a conversation with your insurance company. Ascertain whether your cherished items are included in your current policy, and if not, explore the most suitable means to acquire adequate coverage. A formal valuation will substantiate the true worth of your collection, and the modest fee incurred for professional assessment will ultimately prove insignificant in the event of an insurable incident claim, especially if your collection holds substantial value. A documented appraisal will attest to the value of your precious possessions.
  • How long is my valuation valid for?
Your valuation document will be securely stored for a duration of 12 months starting from the date of assessment. If, for any reason, you require access to it during this timeframe, please reach out to us, and we will promptly send it to you via email. Once the 12-month period elapses, a fresh valuation will be necessary for your collection.
  • Whats the best way to store my Certificates and Valuations?
Capture clear photographs of each edition within your collection. For each Certificate of Authenticity, either scan a copy or, if it's affixed to the back of your edition, photograph it as well. Preserve these images by storing them securely in a cloud-based storage solution like Dropbox, iCloud, or any other available service, whether it be a paid or free option. Numerous cloud services offer both types with varying storage capacities. We strongly recommend refraining from saving these files to your computer's hard drive. In the unfortunate event of a computer malfunction, theft, or damage, your files could be irretrievably lost. By utilizing cloud-based storage, you ensure that your images remain accessible from anywhere, at any time, regardless of your circumstances. Additionally, ensure that the files are accessible not only to you but also to your family members or trusted associates for added convenience in accessing these documents if required.
